Planning your visit

Staff first review a patient's age, overall health, symptoms and condition, then decide whether to schedule an initial consultation with the medical director. Baromedical's patient form asks patients to complete it and return it before the scheduled appointment. According to Baromedical's FAQ, the number of sessions depends on the condition, and patients may need 20 to 40 sessions on average, each lasting about 60 to 90 minutes. The FAQ advises wearing comfortable clothing, avoiding perfume, lotion and jewelry, and avoiding smoking and alcohol for 24 hours before a session. Patients can watch TV, listen to music or rest during treatment, and the FAQ says qualified medical personnel are on site. The clinic says patients of all ages can undergo HBOT, but it does not recommend HBOT for people who have an ear infection, recent ear surgery or an ear injury, a cold or fever, certain kinds of lung disease or lung damage, severe sinus issues, or uncontrolled seizures; the medical director can advise patients on an individual basis.
