Planning your visit
R3 permits direct appointments without a physician referral. HMO patients need primary-care approval for insurance purposes.
Arrive 10–15 minutes early for your first appointment, preferably with the downloadable paperwork completed, and bring photo identification and your insurance card. Allow about two hours for the first visit: a wound specialist reviews your medical history, examines the wound and discusses a treatment plan. Wear loose clothing that provides access to the affected area. HBOT appointments generally take 90–120 minutes including pressure changes. A technician monitors treatment and can hear and speak with you throughout; you may watch a movie, listen to music or rest.
