Planning your visit
Tufts Medicine’s HBOT service requires a doctor’s order and works with that doctor on eligibility and the treatment plan.
Staff may arrange clearance exams or tests before HBOT and review your medications with your care team. Tell the team at least two hours before an appointment if you feel ill, have a cold or are congested. Eat a meal or snack and use the restroom before treatment. Change into the provided cotton clothing; leave jewelry, electronics, food and reading materials outside, and remove hearing aids, dentures, glasses, contacts and wigs. Avoid deodorant, hair products and lotions before treatment. A technician remains with you, explains how to clear your ears and can communicate throughout the session.
