The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine in East Providence is a Rhode Island Hospital center within Brown University Health's wound care program, and one of two program sites that offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Its team includes general, vascular and plastic surgeons and podiatrists, with a surgical oncologist as medical director of the hyperbaric unit. Planning your visit
Each patient receives an individual evaluation, and the team works with the patient's own doctor to develop a wound treatment plan; treatment may begin at the first appointment. Patients call the East Providence center to schedule. Providers refer patients with a new patient referral form that asks for demographic information, a history and physical with a current medication list, recent progress notes, wound-related tests or lab work, and insurance authorization when the insurer or workers' compensation requires it; the form notes that an incomplete referral delays scheduling. Free onsite parking is available, the Rhode Island locations can be reached by RIPTA bus, and treatment rooms have wound chairs and hydraulic beds so patients can sit or lie down during care.
