About

Holy Redeemer Wound Care Center is the wound care program of Redeemer Health, which lists Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook as its location. Its surgeons and certified nurses work with each patient's primary care physician on a care plan that may include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, advanced dressings, infection and edema control, and skin grafting or substitutes. The center lists diabetic, venous and arterial ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds and radiation skin reactions among the chronic wounds it manages. Redeemer Health says the program brings specialists from several disciplines together in one location for patients from Northeast Philadelphia, Bucks County and Montgomery County, and an on-campus pharmacy fills wound care prescriptions.

Planning your visit

A full medical review is required before any HBOT treatment begins.

The first wound care visit is with a doctor trained in evaluating non-healing wounds, who may recommend blood work, wound cultures or radiology studies; most tests can be completed through Holy Redeemer Hospital, and staff can help arrange them. Before HBOT, the medical review checks the ears for the ability to equalize under pressure, the lungs with chest X-rays and pulmonary function tests, the medical history and, if ongoing treatments are needed, eyesight. Patients lie in a chamber with a transparent window that lets them see the operator, and each chamber has its own entertainment system for music, television or movies. Patients who drove themselves to the Wound Care Center can drive home unaccompanied.
