Planning your visit
The center's operator page says no referral is needed; its FAQ adds that referral or authorization requirements can vary by insurance plan and staff can help check before the visit.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is given in clear acrylic chambers filled with 100 percent oxygen. Sessions last about two hours, and patients can listen to music, watch TV or nap while in the chamber. For the first appointment, the center asks patients to bring a list of all current medications (including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins and homeopathic remedies), a list of allergies or sensitivities, medical records including X-rays if available, and insurance cards and identification. The first visit includes an evaluation of the wound, medical history and factors that may affect healing, followed by a personalized care plan. Many patients are seen weekly, with the schedule adjusted to their progress. The center coordinates with referring physicians, home health agencies and skilled nursing facilities.
