Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy of Arizona

About
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy of Arizona is a veteran-owned, dedicated hyperbaric clinic in north Phoenix that calls itself an alternative treatment clinic. Patients breathe 100% oxygen through a mask or hood in a six-person walk-in chamber pressurized with filtered air. It treats outpatients with non-emergency conditions, accepts physician referrals and says it works with patients' own doctors and with several M.D.s, D.O.s, N.M.D.s and homeopaths. A grant from the Southwest Veterans Foundation supports its HBOT program for veterans with PTSD.

Planning your visit
The clinic offers a no-obligation consultation, arranged by phone, to discuss whether HBOT is appropriate. It treats outpatients with non-emergency conditions and accepts physician-referred patients when consultation and assessment indicate its protocols are appropriate. Treatment takes place in a six-person walk-in chamber that may be shared with other patients; patients sit or recline while breathing 100% oxygen through a mask or hood and can often watch TV, read or sleep. The clinic says patients should not be treated while congested with a cold or hay fever, that active asthma, emphysema or other lung problems require special consultation and medical clearance, and that an untreated collapsed lung excludes treatment. Patients are asked to tell staff about all medications they take, since fever and some medications raise the risk of oxygen seizures.
