Planning your visit
Patients can make an appointment without a referral unless their insurance requires one. The clinic obtains prior authorization for HBOT.
Before HBOT, a certified hyperbaric nurse and hyperbaric-trained physician review your medical history and provide an orientation; bring your medication list. Visits usually last about two hours, and the course may involve 20–40 sessions depending on your diagnosis and response. You can communicate with the nurse throughout treatment and may watch a movie, listen to music or nap. Tell the nurse about claustrophobia and tell your doctor if you have a cold or sinus infection. Diabetic patients have their blood sugar checked before each session. The center does not provide emergency HBOT.
