Planning your visit

An initial evaluation is required to determine eligibility before HBOT begins.

To prepare for a first session, the clinic asks patients to complete any required medical evaluations and obtain a physician's referral if necessary. Sessions typically last 60 to 120 minutes, and the number of sessions varies with each person's health condition. The clinic says patients of various ages are seen, and parental consent may be required for minors with specific conditions. Patients are asked to wear loose-fitting cotton or other natural-fiber clothing, avoid synthetic fabrics such as nylon or polyester, and remove jewelry and accessories. The clinic recommends arriving well hydrated, avoiding heavy meals and alcohol before a session, and discussing current medications with staff. Staff monitor patients throughout each session, and any discomfort should be reported to staff right away; afterward, patients are encouraged to hydrate and rest. Listed contraindications include severe lung disease such as COPD, emphysema or asthma; recent ear, sinus, eye or chest surgery; active illness such as a high fever, cold or chronic sinusitis; seizure disorders; and pregnancy.
