Medici Hyperbarics is the hyperbaric oxygen therapy center of Medici Orthopaedics & Spine, an orthopaedic and spine practice in Metro Atlanta, and provides physician-directed HBOT at the practice's Kennesaw clinic. Planning your visit
HBOT begins with an initial consultation, where a personalized treatment plan is discussed.
A detailed health history is taken before treatment, and the physician sets the number of sessions based on the condition and whether it is acute or chronic. People with a history of collapsed lung (pneumothorax) are not candidates, and patients taking certain cancer medications or those with severe emphysema or end-stage heart failure (ejection fraction below 35%) are also not eligible. High fever, an active respiratory tract infection, sinus or Eustachian tube problems, seizure disorder and pregnancy require special screening. Sessions usually last 60–90 minutes, and most patients receive 10 to 40 sessions over several weeks. Arrive without lotions, hair products, perfumes, cosmetics or deodorant. Cotton scrubs, water bottles and lockers for clothing and valuables are provided; other objects require staff clearance. Staff explain chamber safety and how to equalize ear pressure before the first treatment, then monitor sessions. Chambers have a two-way intercom, and patients can watch television or a DVD, rest or nap.
