Planning your visit
Treatment starts with an initial consultation in which the clinic's physicians review the patient's medical history and condition and explain a treatment plan.
New patients complete a patient information form available on the clinic's website. The clinic asks patients to wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and to avoid lotions, perfumes, deodorant and hair products before a session; cotton scrubs are provided if needed. Electronics, lighters and certain other materials are not allowed in the chamber, and patients can talk with the technician through a two-way communication system. A session lasts about 90 minutes to 2 hours including pressurization and depressurization, and most protocols involve 20 to 40 sessions scheduled five days per week. The patient form sets a fee for appointments not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. For patients travelling from out of state, staff can recommend nearby accommodations; Tampa International and St. Pete-Clearwater airports serve the area.
