About
Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Institute (RMHI) is a hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic in Louisville, Colorado, founded in 2007. It provides HBOT as a supplement to patients' existing medical regimens, names brain injuries and chronic wound care as its specialties, and also offers education about HBOT to the public. Its medical director, Julie Stapleton, MD, is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The clinic's site points to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Association for Brain Injuries, a nonprofit whose programs help people with brain injuries afford HBOT.

Planning your visit
An evaluation for HBOT by the clinic's medical director, Julie Stapleton, MD, is required before treatment begins.
Dr. Stapleton's office is in Suite 201 of the same South Boulder Road building. After the evaluation and before the first session, patients complete the patient-information, waiver-of-liability and HBOT informed-consent forms on the clinic's website. The patient-information form asks for the patient's primary care physician, who referred them, their presenting complaints, any previous HBOT treatments, their medical history and their current medications. The waiver asks patients to have had a complete physical within the last six months and notes that Dr. Stapleton does not act as their primary care physician. It also describes the treatment at the institute as experimental, and the consent form says the therapy may be characterized as investigational. The process, risks and possible side effects of HBOT are explained before the first treatment. Patients must tell staff before treatment about a cold, fever, pregnancy, an implanted medical device, trouble equalizing ear pressure or other listed contraindications, and may not bring prohibited items into the chamber. Payment is due before service. Patients can listen to music or watch movies during treatment.
