Planning your visit
A physician's prescription is required. Patients not referred by their own doctor are evaluated by the clinic's staff physician, who writes the prescription if HBOT is appropriate.
For a first visit, arrive 20 minutes early with completed intake paperwork, which the clinic prefers to email ahead of time, or 40 minutes early to complete it onsite. For follow-up visits, arrive 10 minutes early to change into the all-cotton scrubs the clinic requires in the chamber. The clinic asks patients to eat within two hours before treatment. Most sessions last 90 to 120 minutes, and the patient is monitored by and in contact with a technician throughout. The number of treatments depends on the diagnosis, from two or three to 30 or more, and most insurance-covered protocols are five treatments per week. Phones, lighters, battery-powered devices and electronic equipment are not allowed in the chamber, and only the patient being treated may enter the treatment room. Changes or cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice.
