About
Sports Performance Physical Therapy is a physical therapy and wellness clinic founded by physical therapist Dr. Chris Garcia, with its headquarters in Chula Vista and a second location in Kearny Mesa. Alongside physical therapy, massage therapy, performance training and regenerative therapy, it offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy in a triangle-shaped L-Sit chamber in which clients sit up or recline while breathing oxygen through a mask. The clinic lists surgical recovery, concussion, long COVID and fibromyalgia among the conditions it treats with HBOT and states that most of them are not FDA-approved uses.

Planning your visit
To get started, the clinic asks people to fill out a short HBOT inquiry form to learn which program fits them and what it costs, and its HBOT team builds a treatment plan for each client. Sessions are described as 60 to 90 minutes; a typical session lasts about 60 minutes and can run longer if clearing the ears during pressurization takes time. The clinic says that for many conditions, treatments are given 3 to 5 times a week for a total of 20 to 40 sessions, usually over 6 to 8 weeks. Staff help clients into the chamber and fit the oxygen mask. Clients can sit up or recline, sleep, read, listen to music or use a phone or laptop on the guest Wi-Fi, and a walkie-talkie lets them reach staff at any time. The chamber is air-conditioned and has a reading light. Shoes and belongings stay in the treatment room, and food and drinks are not allowed inside the chamber.
