About

The Cullman Regional Hyperbaric & Wound Care Center is an outpatient wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy department of Cullman Regional Medical Center. Its wound care team works with each patient's own physician on an individual plan of care, and a case manager oversees treatment. Besides hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the center lists debridement, advanced dressings, negative pressure wound therapy, skin substitutes and total contact casting. Its hyperbaric indications include diabetic lower-extremity wounds, osteoradionecrosis, compromised flaps and grafts and refractory osteomyelitis.

Planning your visit

Patients with a chronic or non-healing wound can ask their physician for a referral or contact the center directly for an assessment. A typical course of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is about 90 minutes in the chamber a day, five days a week, over four to six weeks. A case manager oversees each patient's treatment, and the team keeps the patient's own physician informed with progress reports; routine care stays with the primary physician. The clear chambers have bedding and televisions, so patients can watch a show or a movie, or sleep, during treatment.
