Planning your visit

A clinical exam and clearance at PEAK are required before the first HBOT session.

To start, first-time patients call the Orwigsburg office to arrange the clinical exam and clearance; patients already cleared for HBOT at PEAK book returning sessions through Practice Better according to their current care plan, and the team asks to hear about any changes in health or medications before another session. Before treatment, patients are asked to tell the team about lung or chest conditions, ear or sinus problems, current illness, implanted devices and medications; an untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung) rules out treatment until it is medically addressed. Most of the visit is quiet time resting in the chamber while it is gradually pressurized and then depressurized; ear fullness similar to an altitude change can occur, and staff ask patients to report ear pain or other discomfort right away. The clinic does not publish a session length and asks patients to confirm the full appointment time when arranging the visit. A membership is not required, and HBOT packages can be bought at the office or by phone.
