Planning your visit
Treatment begins with an initial evaluation in which staff review the patient's medical history and goals and create a treatment plan.
The clinic's HBOT guide says sessions typically last 90 to 120 minutes; its athlete program page gives 60 to 90 minutes per session, with most athletes scheduling three to five sessions a week during hard training or injury recovery and most injury protocols running 20 to 40 sessions. The athlete program page describes sessions in a medical-grade hard chamber where the pressure is raised slowly while the patient reclines and breathes pure oxygen through a mask; it notes that light ear pressure similar to flying may be felt and eases quickly. Staff review prescription and over-the-counter medications at the initial visit. Patients are asked to arrive freshly showered without lotions, perfumes or deodorants, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing, avoid tobacco and alcohol, and eat a light meal beforehand; the clinic provides 100% cotton garments for the chamber. Phones and other electronics, jewelry and watches, glasses, batteries, petroleum-based products, and lighters or matches are not allowed inside. Staff teach ear-equalization techniques, and a healthcare professional monitors each session. Patients with a cold, flu, fever, stomach illness or other acute illness are asked not to come in and to reschedule. Companions need advance staff approval; when the client is not a minor and does not need assistance, a companion rate applies.
