Planning your visit
Each patient completes a medical evaluation before starting hyperbaric therapy, and HBOT sessions begin with a nurse consultation.
A clinician stays with patients during HBOT. The clinic's home page lists 60-minute treatments, and its visit guide says sessions typically last 90–120 minutes in an electronics-free setting; a book, puzzle book or playing cards are welcome, and an in-office library is available. Patients may feel mild pressure in the ears, similar to a change in altitude. Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal rivets or fasteners, avoid lotions, perfume and hair spray before the session, and avoid alcohol and caffeine for 2 hours before and after treatment. The clinic recommends a light meal with complex carbohydrates and protein before HBOT and good hydration afterward. Tell the team about any topical medication a physician has prescribed so it can be accommodated. The schedule often fills 2–3 weeks ahead, so for sessions around a procedure the clinic advises booking as soon as the procedure date is known. Its longevity protocol includes 60 HBOT sessions at 5 per week, followed by 1–2 maintenance sessions weekly.
