Planning your visit
A consultation and screening with provider approval are required before HBOT.
Each HBOT session lasts 60 minutes. Clients change into comfortable clothing and rest in the chamber while breathing pure oxygen as the pressure slowly rises and is later lowered; a team member shows how to equalize ear pressure by swallowing or yawning, and staff monitor clients throughout. Many clients book a series of sessions on a schedule their provider recommends. The clinic asks clients to wear loose cotton clothing, avoid perfumes, lotions and hairspray on the day of the session, and bring a list of medications to the screening. Flammable items, lighters, certain skin products and electronics are not allowed in the chamber, and clients prone to claustrophobia are asked to tell their provider.
